Sustainable Solutions

Overview

Investors, lenders and regulators increasingly expect organisations to understand and disclose how climate change and other sustainability issues affect their finances.

WSF in collaboration with IBF International Institute for Better Futures helps companies, financial institutions and governments integrate ESG into financial decisions, access climate finance and report on climate related risks and opportunities.

Gender mainstreaming

When required by our clients, we integrate gender mainstreaming into every service we deliver.

Gender mainstreaming is the process of assessing the implications for women and men of any planned action, including legislation, policies, programmes and projects, in all areas and at all levels. It makes the concerns and experiences of women, as well as men, an integral part of how initiatives are designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated, so that women and men benefit equally and inequality is not perpetuated.

Based on the definition adopted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (1997).

How we apply it

  • Gender analysisUnderstanding how an initiative affects women and men differently, using sex disaggregated data.
  • Inclusive engagementMaking sure women are heard in consultation, engagement and decision making.
  • Gender responsive indicatorsTargets and indicators that track whether women and men benefit equally.
  • Capacity buildingStrengthening the skills of client teams to sustain gender equality outcomes.
